i'm sure everyone by now knows about the changes at lot 1 and choa chu kang mrt station/ bus interchange. (if you don't, then you must be so very outdated!)
the row of shops that can be found at the interchange is called choa chu kang xchange. (okay, that sentence was a bit redundant) the smell of pie kia lingers at the control station, and the names of the different kind of pies sound so cute; pie kia, pie seh, and dua pie kia. there are also other food stores, hair salons, bakeries, clothes stores, etc.
now, the extension of lot 1 is almost complete. they have extended the space in lot 1 on the first floor, with the newly revamped macdonalds and other jewlery stores. a row of new shops can be found on the 2nd floor and as well as the 3rd floor; popular has been renovated and is now super huge, with books and stationary being divided into the two main sections of the store. food junction has moved up from B1 to the 4th floor of the new block, and it looks really nice with a park theme. or is it a jungle theme? whatever. anyway, these floors of the new block are connected by new escalators. the fifth level is still undergoing construction.
i was most surprised by the changes on the fouth level. i mean, the row of shops used to stop at the lift, next to ajisen restaurant. they've now extended it such that it is like all the other levels, with two rows of new stores which are not ready to be opened yet. at this rate, they should just open a bowling alley at the fifth level or something. or even an ice skating rink. that would be awesome. but i highly doubt that it would be possible, since yamaha has disappeared and they should be relocating it somewhere, right? i used to have piano lessons there from primary one to secondary one. i got to play on that beautiful grand piano, too.
anyway, with all these changes, i don't see the need to move elsewhere! northvale is just opposite lot 1, and it's all so convenient. if i'm hungry, if i have to buy stationary the day before the exams, i can just walk over there and get what i need. if i'm lost, i just have to take any bus that goes to some mrt station and take a train back to cck mrt station.
why should my parents even be contemplating to move?
moving to jurong east sounds nice, though. i would be able to go there to ice skate more often, and i can also drop by jurong regional library to borrow books.
