arrived with chrystabel, met jiaying, and went to AVT together. nureen came soon after, and we sat together. different coloured files were given out, as well as the schedule and this cheapo ballpoint pen.
other schools that were there: swiss cottage, dunearn, yusof ishak.
when they said that we'll be sorted into groups, everyone started swapping files. haha. it was obviously the only way to place us in groups. i had a purple one while nureen's was yellow, so she exchanged hers with farah. mr latiff told us to calm down/ not get so excited and to stop swapping files.
honestly, the people of the purple group were really quiet so jiaying, nureen and i kept bugging vanessa to get the ball rolling. it took us so long to break the ice for the first activity, which caused us to reach the AVT later than all the other groups.
hahaha. i took these photos using vanessa's camera phone! these three guys in our group are from swiss cottage, trying to show what Off Centre is.
the picture below is the drawing done by the ah lian girls from dunearn! they kept saying that they haven't read the book, which is surprising because even though they are still sec threes, i remember clearly that at this time last year, we've covered most of the play with mrs tan and had watched the full play of Off Centre at the esplanade on leongyew's birthday.
but at least they participated and the drawing is quite cute!the picture below is what vanessa referred to as she presented our group's drawing!
there was the construct questions thingy again, which was what we already did as a class activity during the june extra lessons. finally, the last segment- role plays! students from YI acted out the NUS scene first, followed by 4E2's army scene and halfway house scene. then it was the azman scene and vinod's outburst after being fired by mr chow scene by swiss cottage. the guy in the first photo (the one in the middle) acted as both vinod and azman, and he was really good. all the role plays were hilarious.
at bukit batok MRT station, i was standing alone near the escalator, leaning against the glass panels and staring at the floor, with this huge gust of wind blowing at my face making my fringe fly. suddenly, i heard some people approaching and there was this uh-oh-i-think-something-bad-is-going-to-happen feeling.
true enough, those people were three guys who came to stand beside me, and the one closest to me said, "hi." in a soft voice which spooked me out a little, since i was staring at the floor. so i looked at him to see if he was actually talking to me before saying "hello" back. then he asked me which school i was from. this is a very common question which lots of people like to ask if not they will be kept in wonder, and go like, oh hey, what school is that with the uniform which looks like kent ridge secondary's but isn't really because their blouse doesn't have to be tucked in and their collars are not grey.
so i said bukit batok and he asked me where it is, which was ironic because we were standing at the platform of bukit batok MRT station, in bukit batok, and besides, how can the school be bukit batok secondary school if it isn't in bukit batok? this guy is obviously a genius. and i wouldn't go around telling random strangers that my school is currently at toh tuck because it is a holding school and the school at bukit batok is being rebuilt, yadda yadda, since it is none of their business, so i just went like, "uh.. bukit batok?"
so he asked me where was i going and i said home? and then (thank goodness!) the train came. so he was like, oh the train's here. yeah well, i don't need some complete weirdo to state the obvious for me, thank you very much. that was my cue to get away, so i walked to the yellow line and one of his idiotic friends was like "byebye!!" like as if he's suddenly my friend and i'm supposed to wave enthusiastically like friends do. so when i didn't do that, he was like, "so unfriendly."
i rolled my eyes. as if i want to be friendly to creepy strangers.
this is currently my fifth encounter with strange strangers. the first was when i was with nureen at lot 1's arcade (won't elaborate more). the second was when i was going to watch blithe spirit and this guy i walked past was like, "not bad eh?". the third was when i was with yunqian outside westmall and this random ITE guy asked for my number. the fourth one was when i was sitting in the bus, and some guys started hitting the back of my chair (refer to one of the entries in january)
hello? it's not as if i have label on my back saying something like, 'come and harrass me!' jeez.
good news!
heard from debby that michelle is coming back today! hahah, i so missed disturbing her! :D
