pictures of st john bbq held last thurs at east coast park!
on that day, we went to amalina's house and watched BARNEY. hahas. and they were talking about CATS and singing songs about them. but of course we were not so childish, so we went to another part of her house and watch the guiness book of records and saw this man who did a lot of exercise in less than 24 hours so he had the title 'the strongest man in the world' whoawhoa. then we watched this baby who was born with the largest tumour in the world. gross.. luckily it was succesfully removed.
when the bbq food arrived, we booked two taxis, then carried all the stuff down and went to east coast park. yunqian shiya and i took a cab and atiqah, amalina, shuangyu and jingyi took the other. we reached there first and unloaded our side of the things. then we waited for them and carried everything to east coast park, bbq pit 44. jingyi and amalina went to wash the crab meat and sausages at the toilet there while atiqah and shuangyu went to buy ice from 7-11 and they headed off in the different direction. so shiya and i stoned there looking after the stuff while yunqian was talking on the phone. at 12 plus i got hungry and shiya called shuangyu to buy lunch as well from macdonalds.
both the toilet and the 7-11 store/ macdonalds were very from the bbq pit so it took them quite some time to come back. jingyi and amalina came back and we went to the sea..

shuangyu tasted salt water. hahaslater the sec threes arrived. shiya and jingyi went to help atiqah and shuangyu and they came back on bikes (except atiqah who walked) ate lunch and took a group picture:

shiya and shuangyu (look at all their messy hair. ahahas)then amalina started going into the water so we all got into the sea and floated around. i placed my handphone and camera safely inside my bag before joining them. later, the sec ones came and we dragged them into the sea as well (: started splashing water. hahas. then we held hands in the water and formed a circle.
after playing for some time, shiya realised that they had to go return the bikes as it was going to be 3pm, which was the time they had to return the bicycles. so yunqian shiya and i rode to the bicycle rental shop to return it. i cycled very slowly there. lols. on the way, yunqian's bike had some problem and shiya went to fix it. then we continued riding there and walked all the way back again.
after that we were starting to become dry already so we didnt go back into the water. then we burried atiqah in the sand..
after playing we decided to start the fire for the bbq.
there seemed to be everlasting food to bbq. the sec 4s came and helped too. then the officers- liping, faridah and kwanying.

tim to cut the cake! the six candles were for the people who were born in nov & dec- jeaneve, hooiying, valerie goh, leepeng, amalina, and me. had to blow out the candle (so paiseh like that)
while trying to push amalina over to the cake, shuangyu fell down. lols. jingyi treated her wound.
lots and lots of never ending food to finish..the bbq wasnt a success. but never mind lah. we stayed to clear up. walked all the way to the underpass then just nice saw a taxi and took that cab home with shiya. bathed and slept at 12am.
FRIDAY, 1ST DEC
bought some sec three books at lot 1's popular using the $150 voucher! the sales assistant guy wearing a santa clus hat (all of the workers there had to wear those kind of hats, and they all looked kinda funny. lol) said that he couldn't find eight of my books, so never mind. altogether the other books cost $115.22 and so i told my mother to use 23 of the $5 vouchers. so she just paid 20 cents. LOL! my and my sister kept laughing. cause it was so ridiculous to pay 20 cents for so many books. hahas.
lugged the books all the way back home. started on my lit book, 'the curious incidents of the dog in the night-time'. quite nice & interesting so far.
SATURDAY, 2ND DEC
woke up early for advance nco course. attended some lectures and left after lunch cause we had to report at HQ later for public duty briefing.
went home with shiya and she came over. used the computer and spammed kk. lols. then she introduced me to a website where i played some stupid games which turned out to be quite entertaining as it cured my boredom later.
met shiya again after i had dinner at home. we met the rest of the sec twos plus liying, naiimah, wanru, valerie, and boon kiat. had a briefing of the standard chartered 42 km marathon. i was posted to station 20 with liying as i was replacing yanyun and her name was randomly posted there. then, in that same lecture room we had the briefing at, we were supposed to spend the night there and lights out was at eleven. we were provided supper, which was soya bean (eeww, i dont drink those kind of stuff, so i didnt take) and you tiao. (shared one with shiya, teared it into half. so oily. yucks) then we made ourselves comfortable by shifting the chairs and stuff but i had difficulty sleeping because of the girls from other zones and schools on the other side of the room who were making a hell lot of noise and laughing like maniacs. ughh. even though our dm told them to keep their voice level down, like 3 times, they ignored it. i already felt like flaring up.
but no. must be civilised not like them stupid barbarians.
so i slept for a while then woke up then slept and then woke up. etc.
later we got out to walk walk as it was quite cold inside the room. then we went back in and slept on the floor, with bags as pillows and lying as close to each other as possible for warmth. at 3am, we went to brush our teeth and wash up. then we sat at the corridor for a while before changing into our full u.
oh yah. by then it was already
SUNDAY, 3RD DEC
we shifted out stuff to another lecture room and they gave us some fries and milo from mac. then sir tony gave us a whole lot of snacks for us during the duty. hahas. we divided it amoung ourselves for the different stations. then when it was reaching 5am or so, we were given a box of breakfast and had to find the ambulance to bring us to our different stations.
my station was station 20, next to water point 12. it was at mount batten road, which was closed for that day from around 2am to 2pm. we sat at the supposed bus stop there as the first aid post. the other girl who was at our station too was yan wen, from tampines sec. the officer in charge was a male. dont know his name. stoned there for quite a long time till 7am plus, when the first runner passed. the raced started at six. the first few were actually a group of nigerians, black americans. then followed by more male nigerians, some female nigerians, then americans. after quite some time, then a group of singaporeans came. then followed by hundreds. no, thousands. about 30 thousand people were participating in that event.
most of them just grabbed the cup of water from the water point and just go, drinking the water or pouring it on their legs, arms, or heads. then they just drop the cup on the road. when they leave, the cleaner picks up after them. so poor thing lor. keep bending and picking and putting it in the garbage bag. at first a few runners only, then when the huge group came, the road was full of litter. some people were quite considerate lah; they bothered to throw the cup into the garbage bag along the road or when they see the cleaner by the side holding the garbage bag and picking up the litter. some at least still throw to the side of the road. and some throw at the cleaner. out of these people, most of their cups hit the cleaner and very few bother to apologise. tsk.
the huge group of people running past seemed never ending too. one guy started asking for deep heat and people starting coming to apply deep heat as well. the tube of white deep heat ran out, so we started using rub-on, which was to be the liquid form of deep heat. so we just kept pouring and pouring on people's hands/legs and soon, all eight bottles of it ran out too. we had to tell the others who came later that 'we ran out' or 'no more already'
oh. and one guy asked liying to help him massage his leg (which was covered in deep heat from some previous first aid station) later, he saw me and called me over to help him with his other leg. eeks. we dont open a massage center or what lor. the other girl had this guy, who asked him to massage his toes. eeww.
out of all the runners that took part, there are some creative outfits. one was cat like, with black pointed ears, jingly sounds when she ran, and holding some heart shaped sign thingy. lols. another was somebody who wore a spiderman mask and shirt. one was running while dragging a tyre behind her, with a styrofoam box on the tyre advertising for some website.
in the afternoon, i heard that the last runner was still at east coast park, and had not ran pass macdonalds yet. sian. had to wait for the last runner. but i think in the end, the last runner gave up and took a car home or something. then the road was open again. a van came and brought us back to HQ. the others were already there as their posts were at east coast park except boon kiat, whose post was at the finishing line. then liying and i went to change out of full-u. the sec twos left and went to westmall to eat lunch at kfc. was really hungry so i had a large sized mashed potato along with the shrooms burger meal. mmm. yum yum.
headed home, bathed, then slept till my mother woke me up for dinner. then went back to sleep again until today.
im still so freaking tired now. but the duty was fun in a weird way i guess.
my week's schdule is fully packed. i wonder how to find time to study for ANCO exams this weekend and also to prepare for MOI. oh gosh. pray hard that i can pass.
sigh. why did i organise a bbq birthday party in the midst of advance, just so that i could actually celebrate on thirteen december itself?
and why must i have another bbq? ahhh. crap man. ive already had 2 bbqs this so called year end holiday, and im about to have another. lols. sick of it man. how i wish i could cater food again like my p6 party last time (:
